Hyderabad: Schools mull Sunday classes to compensate for days lost

Hyderabad: In November, 204 Telangana Minorities Residential Schools will stay open even on Sundays in order to compensate for the extended holidays the state government declared during the RTC employees’ strike. School staff too will have to work without break throughout the month.

An official of the Telangana Minorities Residential Educational Institutions Society said that the syllabus of all classes in all institutions under it was lagging behind. “In order to complete the lessons, the principals of these schools and junior colleges have been directed that the institutions have to conduct classes on Sundays in November,” the official said.
The Telangana state government has already declared that the second Saturdays will be considered as working days for the same reason, but sources said it was not enough to complete the syllabus along with revision and conduct exams.

The government had issued an order extending the Dasara vacation for all educational institutions from October 14 to 19 after the RTC employees went on an indefinite strike. The schools re-opened on October 21.
