Siemens CoE to be set up at NIT

German conglomerate to bear 90% of the total investment of Rs. 210 crore
A Siemens Centre of Excellence is proposed to be set up on the National Institute of Technology (NIT) campus here at a cost of Rs. 210 crore, announced institute director N.V. Ramana Rao, adding that 90% of the expenses would be borne by Siemens.

To bridge skill gap

The centre will aim at bridging the skill gap of students and automotive industry requirements by imparting state-of-the-art industry-oriented training to help foster significant innovation and learning in technical education.

IP sharing

Mr Ramana Rao said Siemens is sharing a lot of its intellectual property in the form of software like CAD/CAM/PLM (Product Life Cycle Management) from concept to the entire life cycle needs of the product.

The centre will include the latest hardware in the form of automation, robotics, additive manufacturing and Smart Factory (Industry 4.0).
