Show of guts and glory at NCC’s 70th anniversary

A parade representing all nine groups of National Cadet Corps marched at Parade Grounds, Secunderabad, to celebrate NCC’s 70th anniversary on Sunday.

For the first time, a contingent of partially blind students of Netra Vidyalaya of Jeeyar Educational Trust also took part in the parade. The NCC Day was also celebrated by all the nine groups in their respective group headquarters in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. During the parade, the cadets took a pledge to work towards saving the girl child, not taking dowry and also promised to contribute towards religious harmony.

The parade was reviewed by Major General N. Srinivas Rao, general officer commanding, Telangana and Andhra Sub Area and Colonel Commandant of Regiment of Artillery. During the parade, cadets did tent pegging, horse show, Mallakhamba, platoon mock drill and military band display which was followed by the release of NCC journal.

Air Commodore N.N. Reddy, Deputy Director General, presented commendation cards to meritorious cadets of senior and junior divisions and senior and junior wings. He urged all the personnel of NCC directorate to rededicate themselves to follow true traditions and customs of NCC, which has around 14 lakh cadets in India. He also asked cadets to groom and nurture qualities like discipline, leadership, secular outlook and selfless service to the nation.
