Madhya Pradesh still undecided about NEET UG 2013 Vs. MP PMT 2013

The Madhya Pradesh state government has not been able to decide between NEET UG 2013 and MP PMT as the medical entrance exam for admissions to medical and dental courses in medical colleges of Madhya Pradesh.

The delay in this decision making has left all the medical and dental aspirants in MP anxiously waiting for the latest updates on the admission process. The official website of the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board states that the MP PMT 2013 (Pre-Medical Test) will be conducted on 19 May 2013 (tentatively).
According to medical education minister Anup Mishra, the state is ready to forgo National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2013 and instead conduct MP PMT 2013, but this decision can be confirmed only after talks with the MP chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

Even if the MP government decides to conduct the PMT by the end of February 2013, the exam cannot be held before June 2013 because the MP Professional Examination Board (VYAPAM) requires a minimum of 90 days to make all the preparations for the test. If the test is held in June, then the results are likely only by the month's end or in July and then the actual admissions will be conducted. Both the MCI & the DCI have notified that the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) shall conduct NEET - UG for admission to the under-graduate medical courses i.e. MBBS and BDS programmes on 5 May 2013 at an all India level aims to relieve the need of students to appear in multiple tests and promote merit in admission process.
